Baguette Bot vs Grok Bot: two teams of always-on AI agents, two very different bets

Grok Bot, from xAI and Cursor, and Baguette Bot both give your AI agents a cloud computer that works while you sleep. How they differ on hosting, models, pricing, safety and portability, with sources.

Grok Bot is the agent product launched in beta by xAI (now SpaceXAI) on 11 August 2026, built and run together with Cursor. It promises "your team of always-on agents": bots that share a cloud computer, sign into websites like a person, talk to each other and keep working when your laptop is closed.

On paper, that is close to what Baguette Bot does. In practice, the two products make different bets on four things: where the computer lives, who picks the model, what you pay, and whether your agents belong to you. Here is a fair look at both, as of October 2026.

Where Grok Bot is strong

Credit where it is due. Grok Bot has real strengths:

  • Teach by showing. You can show a bot a workflow once and turn it into a schedulable routine. That is a genuinely friendly way to automate. (Baguette Bot has a similar feature, « Watch me do it », which turns what you do on the bots' computer into a reusable skill.)
  • Browser like a human. Bots sign into websites and apps that have no API, and you take over the browser for passwords, two-factor codes and CAPTCHAs.
  • Bot-to-bot teamwork. Bots message each other, share threads and hand work over; a "Chief of Staff" bot can coordinate specialists.
  • Platform coverage. Desktop apps for macOS, Windows and Linux, plus iPhone and Android.
  • The ecosystem. If you already pay for X, Grok or Cursor, it comes in the same bundle.

Where the two differ

Hosting: the United States vs Paris

xAI's security documentation is clear: Grok Bot computers "run in the United States today". It also notes that Cursor's US data-residency programme does not apply by default, and that cloud data storage is required.

Baguette Bot gives each account a Linux computer hosted in Paris by a European host, with its files, browser sessions and encrypted secrets. For a European user or business, that changes the legal frame: the computer, the memory and the files of your agents stay under European law and with a non-US company. (Your prompts still go to the model provider you choose; more on that below.)

Models: automatic routing vs your choice

Grok Bot picks the model for each task, and there is no model picker. xAI does not officially say which model runs underneath. An enterprise allowlist exists, but xAI's own docs warn it "may not" always be followed.

Baguette Bot lets you choose the model for each bot, among more than 400: Claude, GPT, Gemini, Mistral, DeepSeek and others. You can give a cheap fast model to your inbox bot and a frontier model to your coding bot. And sovereign mode restricts every bot to Mistral AI, a French model maker, for work that must stay with a European provider.

Isolation and safety

On Grok Bot, a user's bots share one computer, browser sessions and credentials; xAI states that this is "not a security boundary". Its review options are limited: Auto Review skips memory writes and most settings changes, and a per-action audit view is only available to Enterprise customers through action recording.

Baguette Bot bots also share their account's computer, so the same honesty applies. What we add: sensitive actions (sending, deleting, paying) wait for your approval by default; secrets are stored encrypted, never shown to the model, and only typed on sites you approved; and on your own Mac, every action asks first.

Price and limits

Since 12 October 2026, Grok Bot is part of The X Subscription: it is included in the Premium ($30/month), Super ($100) and Ultra ($200) tiers, with a weekly usage pool shared between Grok, Cursor and Grok Bot. The usage allowance of each tier is expressed as a multiple of the cheapest tier rather than a fixed amount, and a monthly spending cap does not stop a task already running.

Baguette Bot has a free plan (up to 6 bots, a 2 vCPU computer), then Pro at €29/month, Max at €69 and Ultra at €129, with the computer included in each.

Portability: can you leave with your bots?

We found no documented way to export Grok Bot agents, their routines or their memory. A request on Cursor's forum asked for the shared memory to be viewable and exportable. The only export we found is the Enterprise OpenTelemetry stream, which sends logs, not agents.

Baguette Bot exports one bot, several or all of them to a plain-text .bot file: instructions, memory, routines, watchers and teams, without passwords or conversations. The format is documented so that any tool can import it, including a competitor. And if you are leaving Grok Bot, Baguette Bot can import your Grok workspace: your Grok agent exports itself, and your bots arrive with their instructions and routines (paused until you check them).

Which one should you pick?

Pick Grok Bot if you are in the US, already pay for X or Cursor, want desktop apps on Windows, and like the idea of teaching a routine by doing it once.

Pick Baguette Bot if you are in Europe or care where your agents' computer and memory live, want to choose the model for each bot (or keep everything with Mistral), want a free plan to start, and want to be able to take your bots elsewhere.
